Allow us to introduce ourselves. The Foragers are George Fredenham and Richard Osmond.
We got our start in foraging by running a Wild Food Pub called The Verulam Arms in St Albans, picking wild herbs, vegetables, fruits and fungi for its traditional British menu. The more time we spent foraging, the more we wanted to share the amazing things we learned, so we started running courses, classes and workshops, with a particular focus on corporate experience days and team retreats. We like nothing better than getting out into nature and sharing our passion for wild food.
Each of us brings his individual skills to the partnership. George is the food man, creating recipes and constantly exploring new ideas and flavours. His corporate background gives him an insight into how experiencing the wild can enrich a company’s team-working, creativity, energy and leadership.
Richard is the one with all the quirky ideas. He uses his wide knowledge of plants and fungi to hunt for wild food, but he’s also interested in the folklore and culture of wild plants – how communities of humans have built their lives around the wild. He’s also a poet and has written an award-winning book of poems about wild plants.
